STM barre hardware ships to New Zealand from Sydney. Brackets and stanchions travel well; long timber barres do not, so we suggest pairing STM hardware with a barre sourced locally. Every system is built for daily studio use and the lateral loads of barre fitness.
How barres work in New Zealand
- Brackets and stanchions ship. Wall-fixed, floor-fixed and mirror wall brackets are compact and courier-friendly.
- Timber is sourced locally. We tell you the barre size the brackets accept. STM aluminium barres can ship in lengths up to 3 m with a joining system if you prefer.
- Colour to suit. Stock hardware is black. Powder coating in any Dulux colour is available on request.
- Guide prices are in AUD, exclude freight, and are confirmed on your quote. Prices valid 30 days from quotation.

A neat wall bracket gives a studio a professional finish and keeps the floor clear. STM’s FBS ballet brackets and XWB Pilates brackets are the same hardware used in hundreds of Australian studios, schools and fitness clubs.

Floor fixed
Floor-fixed dance and Pilates stanchions
From $290 AUD per stanchion, ex freight
The answer when the wall is lightweight plasterboard, when the barre must sit clear of a glass wall, or when mirrors are already installed. Stanchions bolt to the floor, so the barre can run to any length with economies of scale on long runs.

Mirror wall brackets · MWB
Barres on a mirror wall, without stanchions
From $100 AUD single bracket, ex freight
Studios often want the barre on the mirror wall. STM developed the Mirror Wall Bracket so the barre is supported behind the glass, with no unsightly penetrations and no weakening of the mirror. It retrofits to existing walls and can be used through plasterboard.
- Dance and Pilates formats; single ($100 AUD) and double ($170 AUD) brackets
- 275 mm offset to the centre of the barre

Portable
Beau Barre portable ballet barre
From $680 AUD range to $1,450, ex freight
The Beau Barre is STM’s deliberate attempt to make the most affordable barre possible without giving up the features of more expensive barres. It is a lightweight steel frame with a height-adjustable timber barre and feet that lock parallel for storage, and it disassembles for transport.
- Lengths 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 3.5 m and 4 m; STM home barre in 1.5 m
- Steelwork galvanised and finished in hard-wearing black satin epoxy

Can I buy STM timber ballet barres in New Zealand?
Long hardwood timber barres are not economical to ship to New Zealand, so STM supplies the brackets and stanchions and recommends sourcing a timber or aluminium barre locally. We will confirm the barre diameter the brackets accept. Aluminium barres can be supplied in lengths up to 3 metres with STM’s joining system if preferred.
Which barre bracket suits a plasterboard (Gib) wall?
Plasterboard needs reinforcement behind the bracket fixing points, or a floor-fixed stanchion that does not rely on the wall. The mirror wall bracket system can also be used through plasterboard. Tell us the wall construction on the quote form and we will recommend the fixing.
What is the height of STM floor-fixed Pilates stanchions?
The XPS single stanchion is 990 mm to the top of the barre. The XPSD double stanchion carries the lower barre at 990 mm and the upper barre at 1070 mm. Floor-fixed dance barres are a standard 1 metre to the top of the barre.
How many brackets do I need?
It depends on barre length, material and use. Tell us each barre length, whether it is for ballet or barre fitness, and what it fixes into, and we will specify the bracket count and spacing with the quote.
