A New Zealand connection, an Australian workshop, twenty years of studios.
STM Studio Supplies no longer operates within New Zealand’s shores. That decision was not made lightly, and it does not end the relationship. Our head office in Sydney remains committed to supplying and advising New Zealand studios, schools and venues, and our New Zealand-born director Martin O’Neill is still very keen to bring some international experience back home.
Who we are
Products developed in response to need.
STM Studio Supplies was first established in 2003 as part of the Monart Group. The range grew out of problems studios brought to us: a DIY sprung floor system, an impact-resistant wall mirror system, mirror wall brackets, portable and fixed barres for dance and Pilates, rollaway and Mylar glassless mirrors, floor and mirror cleaners, theatrical curtains and drapes, and acoustic treatments.
STM designs and manufactures many of the products it sells, and runs a research and development programme that tests and improves the materials it uses. The amount of repeat business we receive speaks for the approach. We have served dance studios, public and private schools, universities and construction companies across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific, including Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
New Zealand today
We closed our New Zealand warehouse and no longer have crews on the ground, so we cannot install or supply glass mirrors in NZ. Everything else in the range that travels well is available on a supply-only basis, shipped from Chatswood, NSW, with installation and care guides and the Sydney team on the phone. The uniqueness of New Zealand created a set of challenges we are proud to keep embracing so that we can grow together.

The Monart Group
Founded in 1980 when Martin O’Neill found himself building movie sets during the growth of the Australian film and TV industry. From this came Stanmart Film Services, a major supplier to the visual arts, entertainment and film industries for over 40 years, and Sports Mirrors Australia, which developed mirror systems for dance and Pilates studios including the ImpactaMirror and MWB system.

How we work with New Zealand
Honest about what ships, careful about how.
Every New Zealand order crosses the Tasman, so we say plainly what travels economically and what does not. Brackets, stanchions, Mylar mirrors, vinyl, sprung floor components and cleaners ship. Long timber barres and glass mirrors do not, and we will point you to a local timber merchant or glazier instead.
We quote freight properly, by courier, air or sea, and we ask about forklifts and loading docks before we price, not after the truck arrives.
